Moses is on the front page of the CFB recruiting page at ESPN.com http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/recruiting/football/indexMinnesota-bound QB Moses Alipate (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson):"In
making my decision, the school I chose had to meet three criteria: a
system that was a good fit for my athletic ability, a great coaching
staff and a top-notch academic university," Alipate said. "I found all
three of those things at the University of Minnesota. Prior to Coach
[Tim] Brewster and Offensive Coordinator Mike Dunbar coming here, I
wasn't even considering the University of Minnesota. I thought I was
going to play in the Pac-10. "My committing early to the
University of Minnesota had nothing to do with the depth chart. I've
never been one to back down from competition. To worry about who's
up-and-coming or who I need to wait behind in order to play is a waste
of energy. I have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from the
best offensive mind in college football, Mike Dunbar, and his 'spread
coast offense.' I respect him and Brewster a lot." Alipate
added that: "My commitment to the University of Minnesota hasn't
stopped other schools from recruiting me. I'm still getting offers. To
me, it doesn't matter how many offers a guy gets; you can have 100
offers but at the end of the day you can only accept one. You better
make sure it's the right one."
Alipate continued, "I committed shortly after the national
signing day for the Class of 2008. That recruiting class for the
University of Minnesota was one of the best in the nation. I wanted to
keep the momentum going for 2009. A lot of the skill position guys want
to know who the QB is going to be before they commit. I wanted to give
the coaching staff plenty of time to recruit more great players."

daunte rolls 8:Scout seem to think he will be okay. Looks like he will be among players invited to the ELITE 11 national camp QB camp.... quite the complement from scouts however it doesnt guarantee success (see Jake Christenson). Moses has the size, athleticism, arm, and everything needed to be a great QB. It would have been nice to see what he could do with an Oline like say... Eden Praries.
That is a good point. Playing him did not strike anymore fear into me than any other quarterback in the conference. But it could have been due to the players around him. All I do know is he is not a guy who could take over enough to win games in the lake conference so it will be tough for him to win a big ten title. The inferior talent surrounding him only goes so far, he will have inferior talent when playing Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State almost always. He will be surrounded by teamates not as good as his opponents often when at the U. I hope he does well, I am a lifetime gopher fan. I would feel more confident if we brought in others. Time will tell, but I am not willing to annoint him yet

Not true.
As a lifelong fan you know Minnesota very very rarely has inferior Offensive Lines. They are loaded with young talent on the line and it should continue for years to come. The runningbacks Brewster is bringing in are upper echelon players... sure Ohio State and Mich might bring in a five star stud but Lipscomb, Whaley, Stephens, Eskridge etc, etc, are nowhere near "inferior" by bigten standards. Masons era WRs were big strong blocking type WR's but with the new spread we've already seen the playmakers we can expect for the future of this program.... Quite the class to add to a AllBigTen type guy in Eric Decker. The days of inferior talent are over at Minnesota. As for being more confident if we brought in other..... its not like Moses is THE guy they are depending on. Marquis Gray is an All American at QB and built for the spread. There are plenty of options. Like Btown said Brewsters plan is to bring in a quality QB in every single class.
The defense will take longer than the offense to come around but the talent is coming.
THREE GUARANTEES 1. Sunrise 2. Sunset 3. Brett Favre throwing INTS in the playoffs!

The talent is coming yes...but the talent is also coming to ohio state, michigan, penn state, illinois, and wisconsin. I am not saying position by position the gophers are worse at every position every year than the OSU's and Michigan's. I am saying...generally, the gophers do not have the talent of the powerhouses. Talent surrounding him would obviously help. But even if Brewster repeats the recruiting class every year we will not always have the talent to match up, we were 4th in the Big 10 in recruiting.
It was made a lot easier for teams to steal Big Ten titles away from the big boys or make serious runs when they have great college quarterbacks. Iowa= Brad Banks Purdue = Drew Brees
You don't NEED an elite college quarterback, But it helps and in my opinion he is by no means elite.

3rd in the bigten according to rivals. Either way the level of talent will be quite similar from team to team in the Bigten. Way more level than the difference from a high school powerhouse to an average team like Bloomington Jefferson. Scouts think Moses is Elite.... at least top 15 in his class. Either way the Gophers have guys who should be able to play at QB.
