Time for Morneau to pony up with some jacks ..

I love the rabbits and all... believe me I do.. but this lack of HR production is absolutely disgusting.

Our 80 million dollar man Justin Morneau and Kubel have a combined 24 HR's.  There are three players on the Phillies alone who have 22,24, and 25.

The Minnesota Twins team total is 59, not even close to the total of 71 from Utley, Howard, and Burrell of the Phillies.

Morneau has only had 2 RBI's in his last 10 games and both of those game and that came on a thrashing of Cleveland on the 4th of July... however, the fireworks display of RBI's did not contain a HR.

I am not ready to give up on Monroe or Kubel as far as protection goes but this is getting a little bit ridiculous to see this extended power outage put outstanding pitching performances down the drain.

There are 66 players who have more home runs than Morneau.

Of the 14 players tied with 12 HR's only Garret Atkins has more AB's.  Jason Kubel has 12 HR's in 258 AB's while Morneau has 12 HR's in 342 AB's.

This team needs a HR threat and nobody on this team is scaring pitchers.  When a pitcher is intimidated, he makes mistakes.  Pitchers are rarely making mistakes against this team because they know that they can and still get away with it.

This team needs to start poking the ball over the fence.

Newsflash: we play small ball. And last time I checked we have a better record than the phillies in a league far superior than the NL. Morneau will finish with 30 hr and kubel around 20 in limited at bats. Quit your complaining.

Re: Time for Morneau to pony up with some jacks ..

I agree with you to a point.

The ends don't always justify the means, Sizemore is doing all he can for a fledgling last place ballclub, and I have a lot of respect for that while those other two flukes rot away on the DL.

Morneau's HR production is not what any of us want it to be at, but I think he just needs a break.

Not a break from hitting, and not an all-star break, he needs to be DH'ed tomorrow with Lamb getting the start at 1B.  If that doesn't work out for him he is probably going to... I hate to say it but need to sit down completely for a game in Detroit.

Then he can enter the HR competition, have fun, relax, get himself an Italian chick in NYC, spread the Canadian/Minnesotan seed even because God knows New York needs to get some work ethic kids over there, and be on your merry way refreshed and then be ready to mash against Texas on the way out.

    "far superior"  I love that....

Last time I checked, we need to also play American League teams to get to the world series.

no one has any fear at all of our number 5 hitter

whether it be cuddyer, or whoever we throw in their now

it is just sad how little protection there is behind morneau

and yes he should be hitting for more power

Morneau has been invisible in this series.    It seems like it's taking 3 hits for the Twins to move a guy from 1B to home plate.

We are painfully aware of the middle of the Red Sox lineup.  Ours hasn't done anything this series.

Welcome to Piranha baseball, you're not surprised are you? The Twins (Gardenhire) has that famous infatuation of small ball baseball. It may help them compete (g*d I hate that phrase, 'compete'), but for once I would love to them to venture away from their comfort zone (twins mgmt, coaches).

I like Piranha baseball, but we are overdoing it.  My attention was split between listening to the Twins and watching CC Sabathia pitch, but I swear to God, it sounded like every one went to the plate with the idea of bunting.

You know what, though?  I hope this team is feeling pretty good about itself.  Boston just doesn't lose (much) at Fenway and these games went right down to the last pitch.

PJ, you know I love ya about as much as I can love any Pack fan, but close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades, I don't want moral victories, especially not up against our top rival for the wild card.

Livan vs. Beckett today, count on a sweep, I just hope Crain or Boof puts a hard one in Manny's shoulder no matter what.

I knew I'd sound a little pollyanna-ish when I said that, but I meant it.    I'm not gonna look it up, but I think we beat them up pretty good at the Dome.

I think it's more about the attitude they take with them to Detroit.  They can hang their heads OR they can say "We played the reigning World Series champions right down to the wire.  You guys will be a piece of cake."
