    turkey hunting

How is everyone doing this spring turkey hunting season. Anybody else having problems getting the birds to respond to a call.  Had a turkey sit about 60 yards from me for about 90 minutes and he didn't care about my call or the decoy.

I bagged a 18.5 pounder last Sunday near Zimmerman. The birds were very quite all week except for Sunday morning, they were gobbling all over the place. Not near me of course! The one I got on Sunday night came down the field edge with two other Toms towards my decoys. None of them responded to the call as they came in and none of them went into a strut which was odd. But they came to within 15 yards so it was an easy shot.

I bagged a 23lb Tom with a 10" beard / 1" 1/4" spurs a couple weeks ago in the snowstorm. Never heard a gobble and came in silently . I waited until the snow subsided and didn't go out until 10am . Shot the bird at 10:45am . Lucky I guess! 33yds with the ol' ten guage!
