    Jackson:

Faster, stronger arm, more game experience, more chemistry, more experience in the system, and he doesnt have Favre's stink on him.

More chemistry?  LMAO  Only Corkie could pull that one out of his ass.

I concure that is hilarious. Rodgers could be a star, all Tjack can hope to be is servicable.

Rodgers - we don't know because we haven't seen him play.  He isn't some dumb rookie.  We saw how good a QB can be when he gets the right training in Tony Romo.  While it is a question mark, he has been in the league longer than Tarvaris and has had more coaching and practice time.

It is tough to imagine an NFL starter that could have a worse year than Tarvaris.

He was way down in stats with the likes of Cleo Lemon in the bottom 25% of the league.

Tarvaris has got to show something this season or Booty gets groomed to take over next year!!

I don't believe Jamie Dukes and the others at NFL network who say Tarvaris gets 4-6 games to prove himself this season or he is gone.

When it comes to cool there isn't much comparison between the first rounder from California and the kid from the deep South.

    DuffMan:

I was impressed with how he played against Dallas too, but there is alot to be said for how a defense schemes for certain quarterbacks as well as how they play with a lead.

Look at Jackson's first two pro appearances (not starts).  He actually looked pretty good in those games as well, going a combined 17 for 27 with 212 yards, 1 td and 1 int against a (then) dominant defense in Chicago and a playoff team in the NY Jets.  Not bad for a rookie out of a D1aa program.  Then again, he came off the bench as an unknown against teams with big leads.

If I had to answer the original question, then it would depend.  Right now as things stand, I wouldn't trade Jackson straight up for Rodgers.  But, if I could reverse things and have Rodgers learning Childress' playbook on the bench for the last three years and taking the reins as a starter for the first time instead of Jackson, then I'd take that instead.

    Solid post Duffman Thumbs Up

    I agree 100%

As much as this pains to say...Rodgers.

Don't get me wrong, I am very excited to see how Jackson responds this season, I believe he could be a very good QB. However, I feel the ceiling is higher for Rodgers.

... Jackson is the only one of the two that knows the current system and has any concept of the timing with the receivers. Jackson has more game experience, a stronger arm, is quicker running the ball.   That said, I actually like Rogers and was pretty impressed with his game play.  He has considerable potential and I would guess the same decision would be made in reverse.  For the pack it would be Rogers... he knows the GB system already has some understanding of the routes and timing required.  He has a better pocket presence and I think, though looking at very limited play, looks to make pretty good decisions when he's in there.

They are both young so neither could step right into a new system and be expected to do anything but struggle.

I'm very excited to finally see what Rodgers can do as the starter (if they can keep Favre away) and at the same time I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see him not being able to stay healthy or fold under the enormous pressure of the footsteps he has to fill. Who knows.

Other than that I don't want to enter the pissing match with vike fans in this thread contrasting him with t-jack.

I just have one question out of curiousity, and I'm not claiming to know myself...but why do people, including in this thread assume t-jack has a stronger arm? Or is more mobile? By all accounts, Rodgers has a very strong arm and looked quite mobile in that Dallas game. Are there combine #'s out there to back this up somehow or is this just an assumption based on something else???

Mine's pretty unscientific.  Its from listening to receivers in general (including Ferguson)  that talk about how far and at times how hard the ball comes out as well as watching how far allot of qbs throw the ball, including the effort required to get the ball a long ways down field.  Based on a limited view of Rogers, which might be unfair, and watching TJ... TJ's arm strength is far superior to Rogers but Rogers is more accurate.  Still doesn't mean Rogers is a wimp haha. TJ flicks the ball, at times not even getting his feet set, a huge distance.  I don't see him rearing back like I've seen Farve or Culpepper but he passes further than either one and most people in the league will say that Culpepper has an incredible arm... fumbles all the time haha but great arm.

Based on their comine numbers Jackson has one of the leauges stronger arms and you just have to watch the guys play to know who the better all around athlete is. Jackson isn't particularily fast but he strong and a pretty adept runner. Rodgers arm is fairly middle of the road and if you rmeember arm strength was one of the knocks aagainst him coming out of college.
