I'm gonna cast my vote on this as well.  I think if they do bring him up (and the reason is not injury related) I would not mind seeing the Twins go to a six man rotation.  With an extra day off, maybe Gardy would let Baker go out for the eighth inning when he only has 93 pitches on the night.  They want to keep the innings pitched/pitch count low for these young guys, so have them each pitch one day a week.  I don't want to mess with anything now, but I think this is the best situation if the team brings Liriano up.

As long as the team is winning like it is there's no reason to bring him up and start his service time clock ticking again.

Agreed!! Pitchers are rolling. This Twins fan would not be surprised if Liriano stayed in Rochester, NY (unless your Sid Hartman you think they play in Rochester, MN) for the rest of the season. Let him dominate down there the rest of the year, work on his stuff and start in the bigs for the 09 season.

I agree. Let him dominate down there for the rest of the year to give him some confidence in his arm. Tell him to learn to hit his spots better and not rely on his arm strength.  And give him the whole offseason to get ready for the big show.

I say have him be a Sept call up. That way he'll get three or four starts to show (himself) that he can still pitch to major leaguers. If he dominates AAA and then goes into the offseason, part of him will wonder if he's still major league ready, or if what he showed us in the beginning of the year was what he can expect once he's back in the majors. His injury should not be physically inhibiting him anymore, it's been two years now. It's just mental with him. Give him a few starts, show him he belongs and then he gets ready for next season to be dominate again.

That is a possiblity. But that has a bigger chance of being disastrous.  What if he gets rocked during his two starts. He than has to go into the offseason knowign he got rocked and doubting himself far more than he would if he left the year with AAA being dominate.

There's risk either way, but, if it's me, I'd rather know sooner or later how I measure up. Besides like I mentioned his injury shouldn't be affecting him physically by this time, so if he gets rocked now, maybe that's what we have on our hands and we keep Livan and look at one of young guys as a possibility for next spring.

We are nearing the point though where his service time clock is irrelevant.   The Twins aren't going to trade Livan while they are in the race.  That would be assinine.  He's the only guy they have that's actually started a playoff game.

I say outright Bonser and Bass to Rochester.  Call up Liriano and Korecky.  Put Perkins in the pen.  If Bonser and/or Bass are claimed, so be it.  Neither would be a great loss IMO.

Livan Hernandez, Craig Monroe, Mike Lamb, Adam Everett and Juan Rincon. $ 17 million down the toilet.

    Get well Luke Hughes!!!

I wouldn't be against any of those moves. Although I think if Boof learns one more pitch he'd probably be a very good pitcher, ESPECIALLY if he stayed in the pen.
