    DD,

Lets be honest.  Jimmy K has below average hands.  No, he is not troy williamson but he is no Moss, either.  I have seen more than half a dozen passes bounce off his hands.  He usually catches it but it is that 10% that he doesnt catch that drives me bananas.  If you mean good as being better than TWill, than so be it.

Re: Jimmy Kliensassers final year as a pro football player

Cookie, Dugan isn't even comparable as a Blocking TE in the NFL much less a pass catching one so your point was what exactly?  And I assumed you mistyped when you stated that Dugan had been with the team longer, that was the point of me quoting you!

As far as SawSir being rock hands, even you have to admit that his most productive season as a pass catching TE was in 2003 when he caught 46 passes for 401 yards and 4 TDs.  Nothing monumental to write home about but apparently good enough to convince the Minnesota Brain trusts to award SawSir with the third highest contract for TEs in the NFL!  Since then in the 4 seasons that have passed, SawSir has caught 35 passes for 285 yards and 1 TD!  Does that sound like the numbers of the NFL's 3rd highest paid TE?

No, and my argument from this standpoint alone is that SawSir has been most fortunate indeed to continue to remain employed in the NFL especially at his production level!  Now granted, I will say this much, the team is just as much at fault for continually under utilizing SawSir's God given ability as an athlete!  He can catch the ball if he is used that way, but for whatever reason this team has refused to capitalize on Mr. SawSir's all around skills IMHO!

Another point in my whole argument is that despite this misuse of talent, SawSir has produced a regular season that even the over highly rated and much more disappointing player Visanthe Shitcanco probably ever will produce and look at the money that was thrown at that gook!  What a total waste of revenue!  Here is a guy who has spent 5 years in the league and he has 62 total receptions for 576 yards and 4 career TDs!  This is supposed to be the Vikings pass catching TE that disappointed us all so badly last year?  And yet he is scheduled to clear nearly $4 million in salary this season alone!  WHY??  Why did they even sign this guy if they were just gonna waste his projected ability on the field?  Wasn't 8 years of Mr. SawSir enough?

And just so people know exactly what the so called experts think of the Vikings best pass catching TE, here are the Scout ratings of the leagues top TEs!  SHITCANCOE is a DOG!  We could have gone after Crumpler and taken the salary cap hit for Shitcanco and still have money left to burn!  WHY bother with Shitcanco?  You'll also notice that SawSir as the back up is rated much higher than Shitcanco?  Unbelievable!Roll Eyes

Even former Viking Richard Angulo is rated higher than Shitcano!!!

This is one area of the team that has frustrated me the most and I'll never understand what these coaches see in the DOGS they've signed or drafted over the last decade!  Pathetic, really pathetic!Roll Eyes

Re: Jimmy Kliensassers final year as a pro football player

Here's the scouting report on Jimmy for those of you who don't have insider...read it BigMo and then tell me how pathetic the viks draft choice was!

The Vikings have on the roster one of the most dominant blocking tight ends in the NFL in Kleinsasser. The veteran tight end is a physical force along the line of scrimmage able to block any defensive lineman in the NFL. Kleinsasser plays with excellent technical skills but has the balance and sheer power to finish blocks on defenders even when his technique might breakdown. Kleinsasser has a tremendous punch and uses good hand placement with his huge paws able to quickly reset when in a short area battle. He has the power to drive block defenders opening big holes as well as the athleticism to get the backside cut off blocks sealed. Kleinsasser wears jersey number 40 as he started his career as a fullback with the athletic versatility to be an H-back as well but he excels when on the line of scrimmage. Even though he is a good pass protector, Kleinsasser is susceptible to a speed rusher in a wide alignment. Kleinsasser's versatility is his ability to challenge coverage in the passing game with the speed to stretch vertically as well as across the field. Yet Kleinsasser's route running is stiff and his ball skills are less than ideal. But once he snares a pass he is a bulldozer carrying the football intimidating to secondary defenders as he pounds down the field. The majority of Kleinsasser's productivity in the passing game is short, underneath, crossing routes. While Kleinsasser is a massive, physical presence he has had some injury issues to the point of serious questions regarding his durability. A workout warrior, Kleinsasser, when healthy, remains a dominant force upfront and enough of a threat in the short and intermediate passing game to have value to his team.

Re: Jimmy Kliensassers final year as a pro football player

You are right.  I was typing that Kliendropper was basically an over hyped, ocal, older version of Dugan.  I probably worded it badly.

Yeah, Dugan isnt very good but Dropper is one dimensional.   He is good at blocking but in todays football world, it is important to be able to catch passes and block as a TE.

Your points about shiancoe are valid until he plays up to his potential.  We will see if his excuse about learning the west coast offense last year is true.  I am not buying it but I hope he can rebound from that bad year he had and show us something.  I have a feeling the coaching staff wont be as patient this year.

Serious question.  For anyone who knows Sasser...is a dumb mo fo?  Or does he just look and talk like a dumb mo fo?

He's a great blocking TE.  Terrible in the passing game.  He should've been an O-lineman if you wanted to call him a great Viking b/c he was a one-dimensional player playing a postion that requires you to either be a two-dimensional player or excel in the passing game.

    It isn't 1958.

there might be a slight difference between NDSU's secondary speed and the NFL's.

Re: Jimmy Kliensassers final year as a pro football player

hustler316, all you need to do is look at the roster depth chart!  SawSir is second string to a nobody named Shitcanco!  A guy who probably will never have a single season as good or much better than SawSir ever had!   Even in 1999 when he was drafted, all the ESPN folks could do was scratch their heads and wonder did the Vikings reach with their trade to move up and select Jimmy Boy?  After 8 years and ranked as the 17th best TE in the league I'd have to say, yes their draft choice of Jimmy SawSir was PATHETIC!  His career speaks for itself!

Doesn't mean I don't like they guy!  He's just never been anything more than a blocking TE and for the team to use a second round pick on a ONE DIMENSIONAL player was par for the course and STUPID AS USUAL!!!

Got any more ridiculous questions?Roll Eyes

Re: Jimmy Kliensassers final year as a pro football player

I don't know what the rabbit thing is but I think it's funny as hell!

If you go by stats alone I would agree he looks like a turd. If you ask the people that ran behind him I'm sure you would get a much different opinion of him. You are a typical stat rube with no idea of what happens within a play. Jimmy has much better hands than you think, he hasn't been used as  much as he should from the passing stand point. What's the difference if he's not a pass catching TE anyways, the running game is the Vikings bread and butter. A blocking TE is a much more effective weapon than a route running TE in our scheme, considering we haven't had a QB that could consitently pass the ball since god knows when.

Have any fans on here wondered why we always have a good running game. The backs have changed, the coaches have changed, the one constant is the people blocking, and Jimmy is a huge part of it. Stop looking at the stats and watch what actually makes the play succesful. Since your so high on stats look at what happened to the running game when Jimmy was hurt. If you don't see a correlation then you are obvesiely more interested on trying to prove yourself right than you are in seeing the truth.

The Vikings moved up to get Jimmy becasue there were other teams that wanted him ahead of the Vikings in the draft. This is a fact not an opinion, he was ranked much higher on teams boards then ESPN was reporting. Newflash ya dolt teams don't give ESPN their draft boards.
