I'm happy with the trade. Adding some more athleticism and potential in for very little cost (and another draft pick) certainly doesn't hurt. I think Carney could be a very strong defender with some work between his explosiveness and reach. Booth is nothing but that's ok. They gave up nothing.

I don't think even McHale can screw up the draft if he owns every pick in the first round.

he's not as good a dunker as Cupcake, but he can definitely dunk pretty well, seems like a Clyde Drexler type jumper where they glide more.  Good size for a 2 and could play 3, not sure how good of a defender he is, but some of his youtube clips show a lot of blocks, which I think he uses his athletecism for.  He was from Memphis when they started getting super athletic and winning (continuing w/ CDR, Rose, etc...)

I like the trade.  Like I said in another thread, Carney is a world class athlete and should be lethal running the fast break on the wing with Love outletting the ball to him.  And though he's inconsistent, he has the opportunity to make up for what we're losing in Snyder.  Hopefully he can improve just like Kirk did when he came here.  Not nearly as tough, though.

On the flip side, Carney could be a valuable trade asset to bring in a PG.

We'll see how this pans out.  For the time being, I'm very satisfied.  Especially considering that first rounder we got.  I'm really curious as to what sort of protection is on that bad boy.

Actually their second choice is Josh Smith.  And if they want to offer big money to Gomes, fine.  Let him walk.  this team cant go back to overpaying role players if thats what it comes down to.
